This will be my list of most anticipated book for the first three months. This was a pretty tough choicto make. There are a lot of fun and interesting books coming out 2019, but these are the ones that stood out to me:

The Wicked King

-The Folk of the Air #2

Holly Black

01/08/2019

Last year I read the first book in this series and althoug it wasn't my favorite I really enjoyed it. And if this book is going to be anything like the second half of the first , than it will be really great!

In The Cruel Prince we follow three sisters but mainly Jude.

Jude and her sisters have been whisked away to the land of the Fae after her parents are murderd by an angry fae.

We follow Jude as she tries to claim a place for herself in this world, wich is pretty tough, considering Fae tend to think very little of humans, and are simply cruel.

Like I said I really enjoyed the second half of the first book and hope the sequel will give us more of that. I have suggested it to my library so should be able to read it pretty soon.

2: The Girl King

-The Girl King #1

Mimi Yu

01/08/2019

I have really been into Asian inspired literature and this year there are a few coming out that seemed interesting to me. This is the first one.

You'll notice throughout this post that I am not one to really dive into a synopsis before reading a book. I like knowing as little as possibile and being surprised.

All I know about this book is the following...

Two sisters become unwilling rivals in a war to claim the title of Emperor in this sweeping tale of ambition, sacrifice and betrayal.

This sounds like something I would really enjoy. Sisters, war and an Asian inspired culture.

3. Ship of Smoke and Steel

-The Wells of Sorcery #1

Django Wexler

01/22/2019

To be completly honest I don't completly understand what this book is about...

From what I can gather of the synopsis on Goodreads it's about this girl Isoka who comes collecting when there's money owning. She has some kind of magic and instead of using it to serve the Empire, she kept it secret. That is until now. His Imperial Majesty discovers her powers and as punishment she is send on an impossible mission, stealing a legendary ghostship from wich no one returnes. All while her sister's life is on the line.

That is what I reckon it's about. Sounded cool.

Besides I love reading books with adult characters and heists and thiefs and such.

4: The Wolf in the Whale

Jordanna Max Brodsky

01/29/2019

"A sweeping tale of clashing cultures, warring gods and forbidden love: in 1000 AD a young Inuit shaman and Viking warrior become unwilling allies as war breaks out between their people and their gods -one that will determine the fate of them all."

If that doesn't sound amazing, I don't know what does. I love historical fiction and this one sounds very unique so I will definitely give this one a go.

5. Black Leopard, Red Wolf

- The Dark Star Triology #1

James Marlon

02/05/2019

This book is being promoted as being an African Game of Thrones, which is quite honestly everything I want in a book. That's why this is my most anticipated book of the year and I have high expectations for it.

I'm very happy this is gonna be a trilogy rather then a full 10 book series or something like that, because it gives me hope it will be a bit more to the point then Game of Thrones while still having the same level of world building and intrigues.

I already recommended this book to my library so I should be able to read it at soon as it comes out.

6. The Priory of the Orange Tree

Shamantha Shannon

02/26/2019

Okay, let me first say how absolutely stunning this cover is.

The background colors that nicely accentuate the colors of the dragon in front. The beautiful style of illustration. The composition... This book cover is simply the whole deal, and I love it.

From what I know of this book it's supposed to be a feminist book with dragons and a Queendom at war.

I heard the world-building is beautiful and very rich and the language is pure art, so of course I'm planning on reading it.

A fact I can give you? The hardcover is 848 pages long... it might take me a while to read this one.

7. Crown of Feathers

- Crown of Feathers

Nicky Pau Preto

02/12/2019

This is a bit of the synopsis on Goodreads.

In a world ruled by fierce warrior queens, a great empire was build upon the backs of Phoenix Riders -legendary heroes who soared through the sky on wings of fire- until a war between sisters ripped it all apart.

That on its own sounded really interesting to me, but I believe we also get some Mulan action, with a girl pretending to be a boy to join these Phoenix Riders.

That with the whole idea of Phoenix Riders, a to me very unique idea, sounds like a great book. And earns it a spot on my TBR.

8. Children of Virtue and Vengeance

- Legacy of OrĆÆsha #2

Tomi Adeyemi

03/05/2019

This is the second installment in a book series I started last year.

I read the first book in one sitting and absolutely loved it.

I can't tell you about the second book because of spoilers so I'll tell you about the first book.

In the first book we follow ZeliƩ and a runaway princess in an epic adventure to bring back the lost magic of their world. Along the way they are being hunted by an evil king and his son the prince.

This is set in a world inspired by African mythology and very rich in its world-building.

I read the first book in one sitting and loved it. I have been eagerly awaiting this book so I really hope it's gonna be a good one.

9. Shades of Magic Vol. 1: The Steel Prince

- Shades of Magic Universe #1

V. E. Schwab

03/06/2019

This is a comic book, in which we follow Maxim Maresh before he is king and is known as The Steel Prince.

I don't really know what this story is about, but I know it's a chance to delve back into this beloved world and maybe come across some beloved characters again.

Maxim Maresh isn't necessarily my favorite character, but he is a well developed one and an interesting one. I'm very curious as to what his background-story will be.

I wonder if we will get to see another Antari. Maybe the one before Kell? Their had to have been one before him right?

10. A Memory Called Empire

- Teixcalaan #1

Arkady Martine

03/??/2019

I don't know much about this novel except that it's a science fiction inspired by the Byzantine Empire, which was enough for me to look forward to this book.

I am expecting a lot of politics from this one and an interesting and complex world.

And that is quite honestly all I have to say for this book.

That is it. This is my list of preferred releases for the first three months of the year. These are just a few of the books I'm anticipating. There will be more to come as the year goes on. But this is where I say goodbye.

So until the next one.
